Looking for hi-fidelity sound that doesn't take up any floor or shelf space? The new W3 provides the kind of transparent, neutral, wide-range sound you expect from Axiom, without any of the compromises that plague other in-wall speakers. Other in-walls rely on the wall cavity to tune the bass output, resulting in a speaker whose performance varies from wall to wall and room to room. Additionally, the drivers' rear output produces distorted sound in the neighboring rooms. Overcoming these drawbacks, the W3 features a fully integrated enclosure that recesses into the wall, combined with an attractive exterior baffle portion that keeps the speaker's woofer and tweeter well away from the sound-degrading effects of the wall's front surface. The speaker ports are cleverly hidden at the base of the outer baffle. The W3 on-wall/in-wall hybrid speaker preserves the sonic clarity of its bookshelf equivalent, the M3, and adds a slim profile that is a perfect complement to today's modern low-profile plasma and LCD TV screens. The large 6 1/2-inch aluminum cone woofer produces satisfying bass output in medium to small rooms. A supplied self-clamping frame anchors the speaker firmly to the wall when the screws are tightened. The series is available in a variety of attractively-finished front baffles to suit any decor.
